Trustees, staff say no to building school track at Markham high school

The plan for Markham District High School will go ahead as is — meaning no running track — but a final vote will be held next month, says the York Region District School Board.

The motion coming to the July 4 board meeting “will be to continue with the present site development as (previously) approved by the Town of Markham,” said spokesperson Ross Virgo.

Trustees and staff, in a private committee meeting Tuesday night, decided to endorse the status quo, despite the strong objections of students, parents and community members.
