Chunks of it are piled at the north end of the sprint lanes. Only this time it's part of the $300,000-plus reconstruction being undertaken to expand and renew the well-worn facility to allow the Stampeders to host major meets and train in a safe environment. Workers are turning back the clock at PCI and upgrading not only the running surface, but the pit approaches, high jump apron and more. Over the last several years, the surface has been failing and it's patchwork has been through the efforts of Harry Stantsos, head coach of the St. Thomas Legion Track and Field Club which uses the facility under a reciprocal agreement with the school.
