Brandon McBride and Ryan Sleiman are well known for being fast on the track.
Over the next 10 days, they have to be just as quick at making a buck.
Both Windsor Legion runners qualified for the IAAF World Youth Championships July 6-10 in Lille, France.
Athletics Canada closed the qualifying period Monday and officially announced the team which leaves McBride and Sleiman less that two weeks to pull together almost $3,000 each to cover expenses.
Welcome to the wonderful world of amateur sports in Canada where reaching the highest levels of your sport often means reaching deep into your own pocket.
Athletics Canada warns athletes the trip is only "partially funded" and to expect to kick in between $2,000 to $3,000.
Windsor Legion coach Chris Scarrow has been told the bill generally falls in the upper range of the estimate.
