Athleticism rewarded at TISS

It's tough to argue with the success of the TISS Pirates in track and field.

Three track and field athletes -who also participated in other sports -captured the top awards at the season-ending athletic awards banquet at the school on Friday afternoon.

While Trent Corney and Katie Purcell were the outstanding male and female athletes at TISS, Robbie Deeks was named as the winner of the Lisa Harris Contribution Award.

Corney, Purcell and Deeks were three of the impressive 34 TISS competitors at the recently-completed all-Ontario high school track and field championships.

The 18-year-old Corney is finishing an impressive four-year career at TISS.
