Sisters cross finish line at same time
WATERLOO — Alex and Julia Hildebrand held hands and crossed the finish line together.
It was too close to determine which sister had won the junior girls 4,000-metre race, so officials at Thursday’s Waterloo County cross-country championship let the girls decide.
“I said that I crossed first,” said Alex, holding the first-place ribbon.
Julia didn’t seem to mind.
“It’s OK because I know that I crossed the line in first place, too,” she said.
