Brampton's Van Buskirk Named NCAA All American

First team All-American

Brampton track athlete Kate Van Buskirk, a senior at Duke University, has been named a first team All-American by the USTFCCCA for the first time in her career.Van Buskirk received the honour after finishing second in the mile at the NCAA indoor track and field championships in College Station, Texas on Saturday in a personal best of 4:33.71. She was second by just seven hundredths of a second.Her time also beat the school record held by Olympian and Duke all-American Shannon Rowbury in 2007. The Turner Fenton graduate’s accomplishments this year also include a collegiate record in the 1,000 metres and a second-place finish at the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) championships.Van Buskirk is a former winner of the Ken Giles Award as Brampton’s Amateur Athlete of the Year.
