Pros in New York City and High School Athletes in Championship Races Lead This Week's Performance of the Week List

The professional running world was focused on New York City this week. Both the USATF 5K Championships and the TCS New York City Marathon finished in Central Park this weekend. Also this week were 20 state meets, along with many other championship meets providing top prep performances across the country. Note: Voting closes at the end of the day Monday and we'll announce this week's winner Tuesday.

Abdi Abdirahman: The 40-year old distance runner was the top American at the TCS New York City Marathon, finishing seventh in 2:12:48.

Kelsey Chmiel: The high school junior from Saratoga Springs NY won the Section 2 Class A Championships by 50 seconds, running 16:40 for 4.9K.

Shalane Flanagan: The 2016 Olympian became the first American to win the TCS New York City Marathon in 40 years, running 2:26:53.

Dustin Horter: The high school senior from Lakota East OH won the Ohio D1 State Championships in a sprint finish, running 15:03 for 5K.

Molly Huddle: The 2017 IAAF World Outdoor Championships participant won the USATF 5K Championships by 11 seconds, running 15:24.

Geoffrey Kamworor: The IAAF Cross Country champion from Kenya won his first marathon, winning the TCS New York City Marathon by three seconds, running 2:10:53.

Allie Kieffer: The American distance runner improved her marathon personal best by 15 minutes to finish fifth at the TCS New York City Marathon in 2:29:39.

Shadrack Kipchirchir: The 2017 IAAF World Outdoor Championships participant won the USATF 5K Championships in a sprint finish, running 13:57.

Claudia Lane: The high school junior from Malibu CA broke her own Lake Casitas course record at the Tri-County Athletic Association finals by 13 seconds, running 16:19 for 3 miles.

James Mwaura: The high school senior from Lincoln WA was the fastest runner on the day at the Washington Cross Country Championships by 23 seconds, running 14:48 for 5K in the 3A race.

Parker Stokes: The high school junior from Maine Endwell NY won the Section 4 Class B Championships by 1:14, running 15:44 for 5K.

Olivia Theis: The high school senior from Lansing Catholic MI was the fastest runner at the Michigan LP Cross Country Championships by 24 seconds, running 16:52 for 5K in the D2 race.
