Genest has Olympics in sight

GUELPH — Alex Genest is in a good place. He’s relaxed and confident. The 25-year-old member of the Speed River Track and Field Club is five weeks away from likely securing a spot on the Canadian Olympic team. “Right now, it’s just refocussing,” he says after a training session at the St. James track. “I’m getting back to training. I took a week off after I did my second standard. I came back from Brazil, spent three hours in Guelph and then drove to Montreal. I took the week off because of a lot of travel and I just needed it to get my head in the right space. Now I’m refocussing on what I have to do for Nationals and getting ready for the Olympics at the beginning of August.” Read the full article at: www.guelphmercury.com
