New facility doesn't make the grade for regionalsKINGSTON - For $5.9 million the city got a track and field facility certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations to a standard just one notch below Olympic class. Yet, it’s still not good enough to host the eastern Ontario high school championships. The new track at the Invista Centre, whose praises are being sung to the heavens by coaches whose athletes have been practising on it for two weeks, doesn’t meet the standard to hold any meets beyond the Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association championship, the meet that will Christen the facility Thursday.
