George & Holder look to prove 2011 wasn’t a fluke

Phylicia GeorgeCanadian Hurdlers, Phylicia George and Nikkita Holder enter 2012 as two women ranked in the top 15 in the world. Prior to 2011, both were virtually unknown on the international scene.

George, who at her best in 2010 had a personal best of 13.39 at the Big East Championships and was ranked as low as 188th in the World. Holder, also away at school and hampered by injuries ran a 13.70 to finish 6th at the Canadian Championships and was ranked over 200th in the World. Both girls moved back to Toronto at the conclusion of their studies and teamed up with coach Anthony Mccleary of Elite Edge, and no one outside of the watchful eye of Mccleary could have predicted the outcome of the 2011 season.
