Bingham 4th in 100-metre final; World Junior Championships day 2 wrap up  

BARCELONA - The IAAF World Junior Championships continued today in Barcelona, Spain. Day two highlights include a fourth place finish in the girls 100-metres final and five personal bests.   

In the 100-metre final Khamica Bingham of Toronto, Ont., finished 4th in a new personal best time of 11.46 seconds, Brazil's Tamiris De Liz took bronze in 11.45 seconds. She qualified for the final earlier in the day by way of her second place finish in her semi final heat in a time of 11.77 seconds. Clémence Paiement of Laval, Que., finished sixth in her semi final heat in 11.86 seconds, but did not advance to the final.

On the boy's side in the 100-metre semi final Mobolade Ajomale of Richmond Hill, Ont., stopped the clock in a new personal best time of 10.57 seconds finishing sixth in his heat. Devon Rittinger of Kitchener, Ont., finished seventh in 10.65 seconds. The pair did not advance to the finals.    

In the decathlon James Turner of Kelowna, B.C., established a new personal best of 7017 points finishing 18th overall, after day one of the decathlon Turner was in 20thplace.

In the girls 800-metres semi final Devan Wiebe of Vancouver, B.C., raced to a new personal best of 2:05.40 for fifth and Julia Zrinyi of Winnipeg, Man., stopped the clock at 2:09.63 in eighth place. The girls did not qualify for the final.
